808: MOVEMENT SET FREE.
PROJECT: '808' - A HOLD RELEASE VIDEO FOR OLIO CLIMBING
With our first international production, we had the pleasure of working on a creative project that helped us loosen our grip on what a video should look like.

Following the pattern of late, the programme once again returns to climbing content. Whereas our last video ft. Tokyo-based climbers, this time we turn our attention to the other side of the globe, with one of our most ambitious projects to date.
Last year, we were thrilled to reunite with Olio — a premium climbing hold brand quickly gaining global recognition among routesetters. Our project was to create a launch video for their newest hold set, '808': a bold, thoughtfully crafted collection that was developed in collaboration with internationally acclaimed Canadian routesetter, Victor Fleutre.

"We wanted to create a tool that allows the setter to explore movement and save time in the setting process... Every hold I dreamed I had for the last five years to solve some boulders, I just had the chance to try to shape it with Yossi."
VICTOR FLEUTRE, 808 2024
Shot simultaneously in Sydney and Montreal, this marked our first international production — made possible by our Canadian connections, who helped capture our protagonists in motion and bring our vision to life. It was also one of our most creatively ambitious post-production processes (and ultimately our most rewarding editing experience) to date. Our ambition for this piece pushed the boundaries of our usual visual language and into new stylistic territory, extending ourselves into a space that we loved exploring.
Olio's core focus is routesetting. The holds aren't just beautiful — they're purpose-built tools designed to meet the needs of modern setters. The '808' set is no exception. Drawing from Victor's distinctive style — characterised by bold, dynamic movement — each hold is a solution, an answer to years of trial, error, and intuition. The set's intention was to empower setters to explore movement more freely, and its modular design allows even full volume stacks to be adjusted on the wall without disassembly. The streamlining of the process not only boosts efficiency but also frees up valuable time to test, tweak, and explore routes more creatively than ever before.

Our challenge was to capture all of this in a five-minute video — something that would not only connect the Olio brand with Victor but also highlight the thoughtful design and intention behind the '808' set. It felt natural to mirror the ethos of the set within the film itself: to create something that allowed for uninterrupted creativity and to explore movement, just as the holds are meant to do for setters. From the start, Yossi shared that he wanted the video to feel raw yet intentional — paralleling how he sees the setting process, where ideas are thrown at the wall and then honed in on through guesswork and instinct (with Victor, of course, being among the very best in the world at doing this). Leaning into the spirit of looseness and ease, we began to explore what an unencumbered creative process might look like for us.
Our mood board was easily one of the most exciting we’ve created — overflowing with visuals of what unencumbered movement might look like. Was it a frantic scramble? Pure flow? Calculated precision or quick reactions?
Hand in hand with a few admittedly unrealistic goals, we embraced that same mindset in our processes: loose, effortless, and free from doubt, rigidity, or perfection. Letting expression lead the way, we gave it space to grow and see where we might end up.

The result was something we're proud to have committed to — even if it falls outside our usual style. We spent a lot of time testing our limits, exploring visual ideas and effects within the constraints of what we had. In doing so, we arrived at a place maybe not encompassing our wildest ambitions, but a lot further than anywhere we could ever have gone before. Along the way, the creative process became filled with bookmarks and footnotes — lessons, reminders, and reflections that we'll carry forward and are sure will pop up in our future work.

A huge thanks to Yossi for continually bringing us such conceptual and engaging briefs — and for giving us the freedom to explore. Collaborations like this make our work feel fresh and energising, and they leave us genuinely excited for what's possible in the future. We're looking forward to the next opportunity to expand the boundaries of what we see — and what we can create — together.
